Fieldtrip – sea algea
June 2020 – North of Copenhagen, DK.
Field work collecting seaweed to feed the mycelium.
Studying and collecting sea algae at the shores of Oeresund. Kelp is very nutrient dense and we wanted to harvest different kinds and see if the mycelium could use it as nourishment.
We collected samples of different algae, such as Sugar kelp ( Devil’s apron) – sukker tang in Danish, also know as kombu in Japan. Also red algea and many other different kinds.
The sea algea was dried for a month before it was stored and then finely crushed to be added in small amounts to the mycelium mixes.
Red and green algea.
